American Express today announced new partnerships with KASIKORNBANK (KBank), Bank of Ayudhya Public Company Limited (Krungsri) and Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) to expand Card acceptance in Thailand.
The expansion will give both visiting and local Card Members more places to use their Cards across travel, dining, retail, wellness, and everyday spending categories. The initiative will support Thailand’s continued growth as a global tourism hub by enabling Thai businesses to access spending from American Express’ global Card Member base. The partnerships are expected to expand Card acceptance across Bangkok and key travel destinations throughout Thailand.
“This expansion reflects American Express’ long-term commitment to Thailand and our continued focus on growing Merchant acceptance across the region,” said Usman Arif, Senior Vice President, Global Network Services, APAC, American Express. “Thailand is a key travel destination for our Card Members, and by working with leading local bank partners, we can expand acceptance across both tourism and everyday spending categories, while helping connect businesses in Thailand with spending from our high-spending, loyal global Card Member base.”
Thailand welcomed nearly 33 million international visitors in 2025, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, reinforcing its position as one of Asia’s leading travel destinations. The country continues to attract a diverse mix of international travelers from countries around the world, supporting continued demand across travel, dining, retail, and lifestyle spending categories.
The average annual spend on American Express Cards is approximately three times higher than cards on other payment networks internationally1. Merchants accepting American Express will gain access to both international travelers and domestic Card Members across high-value travel, dining, retail, and lifestyle spending categories.
“Millennials and Gen Z are our fastest growing customer segment, and growing American Express Card acceptance across Thailand directly supports their affinity for travel, dining, and experiences,” added Usman.
The new acquiring partnerships form part of American Express’ broader global Merchant acceptance strategy. American Express is now accepted at more than 170 million Merchant locations worldwide. Since 2021, American Express has grown the number of Merchant locations by 2x2 – with continued focus on expanding coverage in priority travel destinations and everyday or high spend categories.
“This expansion makes it easier for our Card Members in Thailand to use their Cards more seamlessly across the places they shop, dine, and travel every day,” said Prom Sirisant, Thailand Country Manager, American Express. “By growing acceptance across the country, we are enhancing everyday payment experiences while helping local businesses connect with premium international and domestic Card Members.”
